North Devon Community Energy Efficiency Fund
September 2007 - March 2008, 6 month project
The North Devon Community Energy Efficiency Fund project was specifically designed by our projects team and awarded funded based on its innovative approach to tackling fuel poverty. The project aimed to increase the uptake of grants in deprived areas of North Devon and raise awareness of available grant funding. There were some fantastic outcomes:
- Contribution of funds and expertise to showcase lifting a house out of fuel poverty through the installation of energy efficiency measures and renewable technology
- Significant increase in the uptake of grants and measures including a collaboration with letting agents. There were 322 grant referrals for heating and insulation measures. 217 lofts were insulated and 117 cavity walls.
- Series of tailored community events in localities of deprivation
- Front-line staff and key workers attended fully funded courses in Fuel Poverty and Energy Awareness
- High level of media and press across the district to support wider awareness raising and outcomes
We would like to thank Defra for funding this bespoke project and our wider partners for their contribution.
