River Cottage and British Gas team up on community energy fund

River Cottage and British Gas have joined forces on an exciting new scheme called energyshare, which includes a £500,000 funding pot to support community renewable energy initiatives. The scheme is also about bringing groups together and getting support from your local community for your energy project.

Projects can apply for up to £100,000, they should:

  • have the objective of saving or generating energy locally
  • be supported by their local community
  • benefit the local community and have a tangible and lasting impact
  • have some aspect of the project that is realistically achievable within one year
  • inspire even more community renewable projects

You must pre-apply and there will be funding rounds, you need to get your local community to register theuir support for the project on the energyshare website.

They are holding an information day at the River Cottage HQ on 18th May, for anyone interested in applying for the energyshare fund.

Interestingly, there is a case study of Woolsery Hall on the website who we worked with through Renewable Energy 4 Devon.
