About Us
Energy Action Devon works with individuals and organisations on a variety of energy related projects and initiatives on a local, regional and national level. We seek to find cost effective and practical solutions to the barriers preventing the efficient use of energy. We were recently a finalist in the Environmental Goods and Services category of the 2009 Devon Environmental Business Initiative Awards in recognition of our good environmental practice in business.
What we do
Home and Transport Advice - Energy Action Devon is one of four organisations in the South West which forms a managing consortium of the advice centre. This provides free and impartial home energy efficiency and transport advice to all Devon households.
Scheme Management - Energy Action Devon works with local authorities, housing associations and energy suppliers to deliver home insulation and heating schemes for private sector landlords and individuals.
Renewable Energy Services - Energy Action Devon provides specialist advice and information about small scale renewable energy and funding for both individuals and housing providers.
Training - Energy Action Devon provides sustainable energy training for a variety of audiences along the themes of home energy efficiency and fuel poverty, climate change and the sustainable use of energy and resources.
Community Development - Energy Action Devon aims to work with communities to develop projects that meet the real needs of our Devon communities.
Awareness Raising and Education - Energy Action Devon helps to raise awareness and seek solutions to the important issue of climate change and fuel poverty through the set up of conferences, events and workshops and marketing and media. We also work with schools on various awareness raising campaigns and projects.
Policy and Strategy - Energy Action Devon aims to support and influence the development of local and national energy policy and strategy. Though our local research and experience of community based project work and the management of insulation schemes we are well placed to inform and influence future decision making. Energy Action Devon has been successful in working with all of the Devon local authorities to develop the Devon Affordable Warmth Strategy and has worked with Exeter City Council, Mid Devon District Council and West Devon Borough Council to develop Sustainable Energy Action Plans.
